For the Love of Learning Episode 24
Educating Free Minds
Monday July 13, 2015 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm EST
Tuesday July 14, 2015 1:00 am – 3:00 am BST
There have been many conversations about the need for systemic change in education, as many education leaders are advocating for it. But the question remains, what does change look like? Just what are the needs contributing to educating a free mind? And how can we change our own mindset as leader, educator, facilitator or parent? Tonight we’ll have a conversation exploring many of those questions and more.
First, let’s define what systemic change is.
We will explore compressive change, versus piecemeal change, that often puts a bandaid over the situation. In contrast, system change is often thought of as a paradigm shift and has roots out reaching to other aspects of our consciousness. Specifically systemic change in education must include how we view the learning experiences, instructional systems that implement those learning experiences and the overall systems we function within as a collective humanity.
Tonight’s conversation is guaranteed to be enlightening, for sure!
Bios of Tonight’s Guests:
Bringing projects to life that touch people and create meaning in their lives is a passion for me!
The last five years of my life and the life of our family have been especially dedicated to seeing this become a reality with the creation of a share economy project intended to meet the needs of people on our planet and our continuing journey of EnergeticXChange, a journey around the world dedicated to giving, learning and constantly growing from our experiences.
Sadly, it took me fifteen years of working in high-pressure jobs, and in businesses I co-created, often working over 80 hours a week, at cost to my health and family life, before I was able to realise with the help of my loving wife, that being authentic and following our dream, was always the key to our happiness! Things changed radically and for the better!
As one part of a unit of four people, it is critical that my working efforts are consistent with the core values of our family. This way, I can consistently match meaningful work with our core values of love, being together, sustainability, awareness, health, well-being, and our constant dedication to learning and development.

Will Stanton is an Australian writer, activist and teacher who has worked in a handful of primary schools, including a government school in Kathmandu, Nepal. Towards the end of his teacher-training, he became disillusioned with the conventional education system, and is now devoting his life to changing it. Will has just launched his book, Education Revolution, which proposes an entirely new global education model he calls The Six Dimension Model. He is hoping to shift the educational paradigm completely.

Born in Manchester UK in 1959. After a conventional start, David became a lawyer in London. But not for long. His free spiritedness could not be contained behind a desk so he abandoned his career in law for a stint of courier work, delivering parcels by van throughout the London area. By 1990 the calling to escape England had become too loud to ignore. He packed his bags for Madrid, Spain, where he spent 7 years learning Spanish and teaching English. This experience led him to observe at first hand just how much learners struggle to learn anything, especially when the teaching methods are questionable if not useless. After returning to the UK in 1997 he became a freelance teacher of the card game bridge, a lifelong passion he had cultivated from childhood. After being offered funding to take a simplified format of the game around the country for trial use in schools, he was further exposed to the now global educational model he feels is letting the world down badly. He was also reminded of how traumatic school can be for so many (including himself). He is now determined to put that right in his own way and wake the world up to the reality that schooling has become a weapon of mass (and false) instruction.
